BELLAFILL RECENTLY FDA APPROVED DERMAL FILLER FOR ACNE SCARS!
If you have ever suffered from acne you know that the only thing worse than having acne is having acne scars. Acne scars are very difficult to treat. Typically because the depressions that they leave are much deeper than the surrounding skin. Even though abrasive laser treatments like a Co2 laser can improve the appearance of acne scars, they may still remain visible. This type of scarring can make people very self conscious and can lower a person’s self-esteem. Dermatologists and plastic surgeons can inject a dermal filler like Juvederm to improve acne scars, but since most fillers are temporary, this can be a costly option that will not provide long term improvement.
However, last week the FDA approved the first dermal filler for acne scars. It’s called BellaFill and is made up of a combination of collagen and polymethylmethacrylate (PMMA) microspheres. It is different than other fillers on the market because it not only immediately adds volume to the skin but the PMMA microspheres stimulate your body’s natural collagen production making results last for up to a year. This is very exciting news in the world of acne! Please inquire with your dermatologist or plastic surgeon to see if BellaFill is right for you.
