PMD At-home Microdermabrasion

What is it: Do-it-yourself microderm device.

What it does: The PMD removes dead skin cells from the surface of the skin to expose new healthy skin. The body interprets this exfoliation as a mild injury and new healthy cells are generated. This process, known as microdermabrasion, improves the tone and texture of the skin. Even after one treatment the skin looks visibly brighter and feels smoother.

Benefits: Improves the appearance of fine lines, blemishes and dark spots over time. Helps skincare products penetrate the skin better by allowing them to be more effective.

Why it’s Honor Beauty approved: A professional exfoliation treatment, whether it be microdermabrasion or a HydraFacialMD, is the perfect compliment to a great skincare regimen. However, it can be expensive and I personally find it difficult to fit skincare treatments into my busy schedule (even though we have them at my office! How bad is that?) Then I was introduced to PMD by my friends at New Beauty. Even though I thought all of the parts and instructions were a little intimidating initially it was actually very easy to use. Just make sure to watch the DVD and read the instruction manual prior to using it. I love that there are five different levels of exfoliation ranging from very sensitive to very abrasive. I have sensitive skin so I used the disk for sensitive skin and gradually transitioned to using the medium strength disk. I used the device once a week for six weeks and was surprised by the results. After using it just once my skin looked more radiant and felt smoother. After two weeks some minor congestion on my chin and jaw had cleared. At 4 weeks I wasn’t sure if it was my imagination, but I felt like it was harder to see my fine lines and the pores on my nose looked less visible. And at six weeks I noticed an overall improvement in the clarity of my skin and the texture and tone had visibly improved.

Details:

The disks need to be replaced after every 2-4 uses. The replacement disks retail for $20 and this particular version of the device retails for $159. So even with the replacement disks the PMD is more cost effective than having a microdermabrasion treatment done professionally which can cost over $200 for just one treatment.
